What does a Crab Island pontoon rental cost?
Island Watersports publishes starting rates of $275 for four hours and $375 for eight hours for its 12-passenger pontoon. Fuel is included; confirm taxes, deposit and optional captain charges. Published rates, checked September 30, 2026.
Luther’s 24-foot pontoon starts at $250 for four hours and $400 for eight hours, before taxes and fees. The six-person Nemo charter lists four hours from $399.99 and eight hours from $799.99, with higher peak-season rates. Request the same date, duration, boat type and passenger count from each before comparing totals. A captained charter includes a different service from a self-drive boat; the lowest advertised amount is not necessarily the lowest total for your trip.
Choose your departure location
- Destin Pontoon Charters: its website lists 314 Harbor Boulevard, Destin. Confirm the actual boarding point for your chosen charter. Operator source.
- Luther’s: 200 Harbor Boulevard, Destin. Ask for parking and check-in instructions for your reservation. Operator source.
- Island Watersports: 1318 Miracle Strip Parkway SE, Fort Walton Beach, on Okaloosa Island. On-site parking is advertised as included. Operator source.
Pick your departure before arranging transport
Our listings cover Destin and nearby Okaloosa Island. Use the address in your operator’s confirmation, rather than navigating to “Crab Island.” Ask about parking charges, check-in time and how much of your booked time is spent travelling to your planned stop.
Choose the right amount of time
For a shorter outing, agree on one main activity and leave time for check-in and the return journey. For a longer rental, plan food, shade and restroom arrangements. Ask the operator what is practical within the permitted cruising area; don’t assume a rental allows every route.
Compare a complete quote
Send each business the same date, passenger count, duration and captain preference. Ask for fuel, taxes, captain charges, optional equipment and gratuity expectations to be itemized. Check whether a deposit is refundable or an additional cost. Our starting prices are not live quotes or verified discounts.
Check dates and weather terms
Confirm that the boat operates on your requested date, particularly outside the main vacation season. Read the difference between cancelling yourself and a trip cancelled by the operator. Ask who makes the weather decision and whether the remedy is a refund or rescheduling.
Florida driver requirements
For boats with motors of 10 horsepower or more, Florida generally requires operators born on or after January 1, 1988 to meet boating education requirements and carry photo identification. Exemptions and temporary certification options exist. Review the FWC’s official requirements and confirm what your rental business accepts. Its minimum rental age may be stricter.
Get a proper handover
Before a self-drive trip, ask the operator to explain the allowed route, local conditions, anchoring, equipment and emergency contact procedure. Tell them if you are unfamiliar with the area. Confirm suitable life jackets for every passenger and the rules for wearing them. Read the FWC rental safety guidance.
Destin pontoon rental questions
How many people can come, including children?
The featured private Destin Pontoon Charters option allows six guests; Island Watersports lists 12 passengers for its standard pontoon. Luther’s has different boat sizes, so confirm the limit for the boat you select. Give the operator your full group count, including children, and ask about suitable life jackets before booking.
Where do I check in, and how early should I arrive?
Use the boarding address and arrival time in your reservation confirmation. Destin Harbor and Okaloosa Island are different departure areas. Ask how much time to allow for parking, waivers, loading and instruction, and whether a late arrival shortens your rental.
What happens if the weather changes or I need to cancel?
Policies differ by operator and booking. Before paying, get the cancellation deadline, weather decision process and refund or rescheduling terms in writing. Ask what happens if conditions shorten a trip already underway. Do not assume one operator’s policy applies to the others.
Is a captain included in every rental?
No. A captained charter and a self-drive rental are different products. Where a rental business can arrange a captain, request the additional cost and confirm the arrangement before paying.
Can I book through this directory?
For now, booking links take you to the named business. That business handles payment, confirmation, cancellations and on-trip support. We do not own the boats or represent every operator.
Is every listed boat available today?
No. “Listing details checked” means we reviewed the business’s published information on the displayed date. It does not confirm live inventory, vessel condition, licensing or insurance.
Are these the cheapest rentals?
We have not established a lowest-price ranking. Compare equivalent boats, durations and inclusions, and check the final total directly. No current discount is promised.
